Information for Prescribers

Prescribers in Australia can access all THC medicinal cannabis products via the Medicinal Cannabis Medicines Portal (MCMP)  www.mcmp.com.au

The MCMP is a collaborative approach between Prescribers, Pharmacists and Suppliers to help patients get timely access to appropriate Medicinal Cannabis treatment.
The MCMP significantly eases the administrative burden of prescribing Medicinal Cannabis products; by pre-populating all applicable approval forms, recording patient details required for repeat prescriptions, and providing ready access to a wealth of clinical studies to support a prescriber’s application.

About the MCMP

The MCMP links together the prescriber, the pharmacy and the supplier to ensure your patients receive full support and continuity of care throughout their treatment
It assists prescribers by:

  • Providing you with easy registration to the portal
  • Assists yourself and the patient to also be registered on the portal
  • Assists you with finding a pharmacist/Network Pharmacy that have agreed to access Medicinal Cannabis products from participating manufacturers and dispense these products at no more than the listed price >

  • Pre-fills approval forms to minimise administration time

As of mid August 2018, the MCMP is currently live for Healthcare Professionals only; registered pharmacies will be contacted directly when the MCMP launches for patients.
